MT McGuire
Award winning author, M T McGuire, grew up on a windy Down in Sussex. After a brief and impressively unsuccessful go at stand up, she sat down and started to write books. She now lives in Bury St Edmunds with her McFamily and McCat. M T would like to be able to tell you she's an NY Times best selling author but that would be lying. Some of her books have won Wishing Shelf Awards though, a bronze and a silver. Despite supposedly being an adult, and therefore old enough to know better, M T McGuire still checks inside unfamiliar wardrobes for a gateway to Narnia. Boringly, she's not found any. But she lives in hope.

K'Barthan Extras, Hamgeean Misfit Series. All The Pan of Hamgee wants is to live a quiet life, free from any interference by the authorities. It's a simple goal, but he's an outlaw, his very existence is treason and he's one of the nation's most wanted. If he's honest with himself, it's probably not on the cards. Every pragmatic, The Pan adjusts his ambition to the slightly more realistic aim of still being alive at the end of each day. Who knew surviving would be this complicated? THE K'BARTHAN SERIES All The Pan of Hamgee wants is a quiet life. So why did he have to fall in love with a woman living a different version of reality, upset a murderous tyrant and then run out of places to hide? Now all he has to do is face his inner demons, rescue everything he holds dear and save the world, or die trying. Oh yes, and he’s an abject coward. Great. No pressure then. M T's books are mostly contemporary Urban Fantasy set in a parallel universe. Sometimes it spills into this one. Her work sits in the tradition of writers like E Nesbitt (Five Children And It Anyone?) and humourists like Terry Pratchett so she tends to invent new life forms. Her writing is influenced by many things: 1960s sci fi, 1980s 200AD, TV like Dr Who and writers like E Nesbitt so she tends to invent, not only new worlds, but new species of life form to live in them. She also likes writing reluctant heros and inventing religions so her characters can swear realistically without offending anyone.
